About This Mat
Your dog has been trying to tell you they're stressed. This helps.
Anxious dogs need more than food — they need focus. The PawPipie Calm Lick Mat Set gives your dog a healthy, satisfying way to slow down, de-stress, and engage their natural instincts — one lick at a time.
The licking itself is the therapy. Repetitive licking activates your dog's parasympathetic nervous system — the same system responsible for calm, rest, and recovery. Vets and behaviourists recommend lick mats specifically for dogs with separation anxiety, storm phobia, and mealtime stress.
Best for: dogs with separation anxiety, mealtime stress, boredom, destructive chewing, storm or fireworks phobia.
Features & Materials
🐾 2-in-1 design — functions as both a slow feeder bowl AND a flat lick mat. Use it at mealtimes to prevent gulping, or freeze it with peanut butter for a 20-minute calm session before you leave the house.
🐾 Deep groove texture — raised patterns and grooves keep food tucked in longer, so your dog works harder and stays calm longer. A genuine enrichment tool — not a shallow scraper.
🐾 100% food-grade silicone — completely free from BPA, PVC, phthalates, and lead. No chemical smell. Safe for your dog's mouth every single meal.
🐾 Anti-slip base — grips tile, hardwood, and stainless steel surfaces so your dog can focus on the mat, not chasing it across the kitchen floor.
🐾 Dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and freezer safe — temperature range -76°F to 482°F. Built to last years, not weeks.
🐾 2 mats in the set — one for feeding, one to freeze. Rotate them so there is always a frozen mat ready when your dog needs it most.
How To Use
Fill it with peanut butter, plain Greek yogurt, pureed pumpkin, mashed banana, wet food, or bone broth — anything spreadable.
For maximum calming effect — freeze it:
- Spread your chosen filling across all grooves
- Place in the freezer for at least 4 hours
- Give to your dog 20–30 minutes before a triggering event — before you leave the house, before a thunderstorm, before a vet visit
A frozen lick mat session keeps most dogs focused and calm for 15–25 minutes. This is not a treat — it is a calming routine.
Set includes: 2 silicone mats (Avocado Green + Pink). Fits most breed sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes — fully dishwasher safe on both the top and bottom rack. You can also hand wash with warm soapy water. The silicone will not warp, crack, or lose its texture after repeated washing.
-
Can I put it in the freezer?
Yes — and we strongly recommend it. Freezing the mat extends your dog's licking session from a few minutes to 15–25 minutes, which gives the parasympathetic nervous system more time to activate and produce a genuine calming effect. Spread your filling, freeze for at least 4 hours, and give it to your dog straight from the freezer.
-
What can I put on it?
Anything spreadable and dog-safe. The most popular options are plain peanut butter (no xylitol — always check the label), plain Greek yogurt, pureed pumpkin, mashed banana, soft wet food, or bone broth. For a longer session, mix fillings and freeze. Always check with your vet if you are unsure whether a specific food is safe for your dog.
-
Is the silicone food-grade and safe?
Yes — the mat is made from 100% food-grade silicone, free from BPA, PVC, phthalates, and lead. There is no chemical smell. It meets food safety standards and is safe for direct contact with your dog's tongue and saliva at every meal.
-
How big is each mat?
Each mat in the 2-pack is designed to fit most breed sizes from small to large. The set includes two mats — one Avocado Green and one Pink — each with a different texture pattern on each side, giving you four different enrichment surfaces across the two mats.
-
My dog just licks the mat clean in 2 minutes. What am I doing wrong? Nothing — your dog is enthusiastic. Freeze the mat for at least 4 hours before use. Frozen fillings take significantly longer to lick off and extend the calm session. You can also pack the grooves more tightly or use a thicker filling like peanut butter mixed with kibble pressed into the channels.
-
Does the suction base actually hold on the floor?
Yes — the anti-slip base grips tile, hardwood, and smooth surfaces firmly. For very energetic dogs we recommend placing the mat in a corner against a wall, or using it in a slightly recessed area so the dog naturally works against a surface.
-
Will this help my dog's separation anxiety?
Lick mats are one of the most consistently recommended enrichment tools by veterinary behaviourists for separation anxiety. Use it as part of a pre-departure routine — give the frozen mat 20–30 minutes before you leave. The licking session activates calm before you go, rather than waiting for anxiety to spike after you leave.
These actually work. My cats kept eating to fast and would get sick just about everyday. We had them over a week and the cats haven't gotten sick at all.
Durability is great, easy too clean and keeps the food in place.
My cat keeps eating too fast and not chewing his food, with this he slows down. It was hilarious when I first placed it down for him, he hissed at it. He was scared of it 😅 but he adapted after about 5 minutes of being dramatic lol. 10/10, he did slow down to eat and did not throw up.
Cheap, easy to clean, keeps the cats from barfing. What more do you want out of a slow feeder?

LOVE these!!!I actually think that this saved my cats life. I rescued her from a Hoarding house of 80+ animas!, Im Assuming she had to fight for her food. When i rescued her,she would gorge herself when I fed her.We needed to reteach her that food was not going to be an issue for her and she didn't need to worry anymore, but she would still stuff herself and she was getting sick. I came across these and she now has learned portion control and I'm so grateful. She now has lost a few pounds. My baby is only 14 months old. She had a REALLY tough start to her life, But thankfully I found her, and now she isNOW spoiled rotten, and she will be LOVED & WELL taken care of for the rest of her life with good food, treat, toys BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY LOTS OF LOVE!!!
